Saskatchewan Man Charged With Uttering Threats to Premier
68 year old Donald Lorenz of Allan, Saskatchewan was arrested by RCMP on Tueaday afternoon after a series of threatening phone calls to Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall, Prime Minister Stephan Harper and Elwin Herman of the Canadian Grain Commission. Lorenz faces three counts of uttering threats and made his first appearance in Saskatoon Provincial Court on Thursday. He will remain in custody until his next court appearance on March 15.

New Physician Recruited for Maple Creek
Dr. Jayanath Ratnayake will join the Maple Creek Medical Team as of March 18. Ratnayake hails from South Africa and will be the fourth practicing Physician for the community.

New Producer Compensation Introduced for Livestock Predation
The Government of Saskatchewan and Canada have joined forces to introduce a new program for livestock producers. The compensation announced for livestock killed or injured by predators is part of an overall enhancement to the Wildlife Damage Compensation Program. Producers will be compensated for 100 per cent of the market value of their livestock killed by predators and up to 80 per cent of the market value for injured livestock requiring veterinary services. The program will also now include compensation for wildlife damage to crops and feed used for swath, bale and corn grazing. In addition, compensation for wild boar damage to crops is being added to the program. The previous $5,200 per yard site compensation limit for wildlife damage to stacked feed will also be removed.
